Irlam Site Details, Salford
(paraphrased extract + info from previous posts)
The fight to save this traditional children's play area and site of
local fauna and flora from the threat of being burned, levelled and having
350 houses crammed onto it continues. An article in the Manchester
Evening News (Nov 21st) reported an appeal to Swampy for help to try
and prevent this loss of Irlam's last link with nature.
The area lies between the A57 and the Manchester ship canal -
central Grid Reference is SJ 725 941 (long 2 deg 27 min, lat 53 deg 27 min
40 sec) - on the other side of the River Irwell (old course) from
Princes' Park - Highbury Ave - Riverside Ave.
Offers of help are welcome - please contact
airborne@btinternet.com
or phone 0161 775 4422 for details of how to get there if you
want take a look.
