Welford Peace Camp - the perfect place for an Easter day out!

A new peace camp has recently been established at the US bomb store at RAF Welford, and visitors to the camp are always welcome. The camp started last weekend and has managed to hold out against threats of eviction by the police. It is located in a highly visible position next to the M4 motorway and camp residents have been working hard to monitor and demonstrate against the regular bomb convoys leaving Welford.

Despite the claims that the war is over, B-52 bombers are still flying missions from Fairford airbase and heavily guarded convoys are transporting bombs to Fairford from Welford on an almost daily basis. The Welford campers intend to remain at the base until the B-52 bombers return home to the USA.

The camp is located immediately to the south of the M4 motorway at the base of the footbridge crossing the motorway at the end of the lane leading north from Boxford and Westbrook villages. Everyone at the camp is very friendly and they would love to see you if you have time to drop in for a visit, no matter how long or short a time you can manage - be it minutes or days!

To contact the camp call Nick on 07736 964653 or Sam on 07984 290842
