Western Bypasses meeting - FOE / CPRE - 23 October 2002

WESTERN BYPASSES OF WOLVERHAMPTON AND STOURBRIDGE

West Midlands CPRE and West Midlands Friends of the Earth are organising a briefing session to update interested parties on the current state of play in relation to the proposals for bypasses to the West of Stourbridge and Wolverhampton.

You will be aware that the report of the Regional Planning Guidance Public Examination Panel is expected at the end of October, including the Panel's view on the Western Bypasses of Stourbridge and Wolverhampton. At the same time the West Midlands Local Government Association is pursuing a further study of the bypasses to try and prove they have regeneration benefits, which is likely to go ahead whether or not it gets endorsement. We, therefore, believe it is timely to facilitate a meeting of interested parties along the route.

The meeting will be held on the 23 October at 7.30
at Wombourne Civic Centre, Gravel Hill, Wombourne

It will include briefings on:

1. The RPG process

2. The further proposed Bypass Study

3. The ongoing planning implications, including the relation to airport proposals in the Wolverhampton area coming from the Midlands Airport Study, High Technology corridors etc....

There will also be an opportunity to discuss campaigning goals and how we can each help one another to raise the profile of these environmentally damaging road schemes.
