EMBRACE THE BASE AT MENWITH HILL - 12th DECEMBER 2002

Dear Sisters,

Without the ground relay stations around the world, the proposed US Ballistic Missile Defence & Theatre MIssile Defence systems ["Star Wars"] cannot function.

Menwith Hill is the world's largest support facility for the US military. It falls within our area of responsibility.

To allow many the opportunity of celebrating the 20th anniversary of women's EMBRACE THE BASE demonstration at Greenham Common on December 12th 1982, and to encourage new women to find out for themselves what an amazing experience there is to be had in mass women-only non-violent direct action, we propose to organise women's EMBRACE THE BASE at Menwith Hill on December 12th 2002.

The Greenham Common EMBRACE THE BASE was followed by a day of civil resistance when the base was blockaded.

Regional organisers are needed to make this event the largest site of protest in Europe.

WE SHALL ARRANGE THE FIRST MEETING IN JANUARY 2002.

We demand that women & children globally are freed from the fear of a nuclear-powered arms race in Space & US domination of Space for its military & commercial interests.

HELP SAVE THE FUTURE!

Helen John
