Subject: [act-locally] DO YOU WANT SAFER CYCLING IN NEWCASTLE?

Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Critical Mass ride - 6th April 2000

DO YOU WANT SAFER CYCLING IN NEWCASTLE?

Join us for a short safe ride through the city, Thursday 6th April 2000, 5.15 pm, St.Mary's Place, nr.Haymarket, and monthly thereafter.

Cycling is better for the environment, health, and the City. Leave your car at home, cycle in and experience the benefits.

Everyday cyclists are put at risk in Newcastle.

Despite some cycle paths, most parts of the city have no provision for cyclists. Cyclists continuously have their health and safety put at risk by dangerous driving, vehicle fumes, bad road planning, and cycle paths ending abruptly at difficult junctions.

Roads are for everyone's use, assert your right as a cyclist to use the road and travel in safety.

Join us, together we can create a CRITICAL MASS of cyclists and cycle around the city in safety.

Together we can -
- improve safety for all cyclists
- urge the City council to create more linked cycle paths
- encourage greater consideration of the cyclist in road planning
- and encourage people to cycle rather than use their cars.
